Ottawa, ON - Prime Minister Harper presented the Conservative Government’s Third Report to Canadians highlighting the progress on the implementation of Canada’s Economic Action Plan, with 90% of the Plan already being implemented.
“While we have made great progress, there is more to be done,” said Blackstrap MP Lynne Yelich. “Now more than ever, our government must stay focussed, we must stay on course.” Yelich noted that funds have been committed to 7,500 projects and 4,000 projects have already begun in the first six months of the 24-month plan. Other measures that have already been implemented: Reducing the tax burden on Canadian families and businesses, including the Home Renovation Tax Credit and the First Time Home Buyers’ Tax Credit; Assisting the unemployed by extending EI benefits, making it easier to qualify and expanding EI training programs; and Investing in the economy of the future by upgrading infrastructure, expanding graduate student internships and investing in green technologies “We are seeing stabilization and the early beginnings of a recovery but this recovery is fragile. Our Conservative Government is committed to staying on the course and continue to implement our Economic Action Plan,” concluded Yelich. |
