SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN, September 3, 2010—People with disabilities will get help developing job skills as a result of the Government of Canada’s support for the Saskatoon Branch of the Saskatchewan Abilities Council. The Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State (Western Economic Diversification) and Member of Parliament for Blackstrap, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development. “In today’s environment, it is more important than ever that all Canadians have the skills they need to participate and succeed in the job market,” said Minister of State Yelich. “By supporting this project, our government is helping Canadians with disabilities maximize their potential and independence.” |

"In celebration of the Saskatchewan Roughriders' 100th anniversary, the Royal Canadian Mint is proud to join the Saskatchewan Roughriders in officially unveiling a new commemorative one-dollar circulation coin honouring this legendary team and its generations of loyal fans.The coin will enter general circulation beginning September 3, 2010, following the public unveiling of the coin at Regina's Northgate Mall. A public coin exchange will immediately follow the unveiling. The Mint is delighted to give the many supporters of Rider Nation a unique means of celebrating their team's centennial and the great traditions of Canadian football." The coins will also be available Thursday at the Riders stores at the Circle Centre Mall in Saskatoon, 3510 8th St. E., (after 3 p.m. CST). August 23, 2010 Vancouver, British Columbia-Today the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, toured the construction currently underway at YWCA Vancouver’s Health & Fitness Centre. “Once complete, the new and improved facility will ensure that users have access to the modern and essential infrastructure they need today and in the future,” said Minister Yelich. “It is exciting to see that work is underway in communities like Vancouver, and that our Government’s Economic Action Plan is accomplishing its goals.” Western Economic Diversification Canada has committed $463,830 for improvements to the Centre through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan. Through building upgrades and a locker room expansion, the Centre will be able to accommodate more people each day, reduce its carbon footprint, increase operational efficiencies and create jobs for local workers. The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program is investing $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period.
