  • Conservatives are Taking Action Against Human Trafficking

On Tuesday, Vic Toews, Canada’s Public Safety Minister and Member of Parliament Joy Smith joined the RCMP to launch Crime Stoppers “Blue Blindfold” campaign which will help to give Canadians the tools and the awareness to spot and report evidence of the crime of human trafficking.

Human trafficking is a despicable crime that targets the most vulnerable in Canadian communities, especially women and children. Thanks to Conservative action, Parliament has passed a tough new law that will put dangerous sexual predators behind bars – where they belong – by delivering mandatory minimum sentences to those convicted of human trafficking.

Canadians may be unaware that human trafficking could be taking place in their communities. That’s why the Crime Stoppers “Blue Blindfold” campaign will help Canadians recognize and report evidence of human trafficking.

With our Conservative Government, law enforcement and members of the public working together, more dangerous criminals who engage in this terrible crime can be caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
